Tepelné ochrany a termistory

PTC termistoryTermistory s kladným koeficientem odporu. Zapojují se do série s chráněným obvodem. V klidovém stavu mají zanedbatelný odpor. Při poruše zařízení (teče jím velký proud) se termistory zahřejí na vysokou teplotu a prudce stoupne jejich odpor. Tímto je znemožněna destrukce chráněného obvodu. PTC termistory slouží jako náhrada klasických trubičkových pojistek. Svoje uplatnění najdou i jako ochrana motorů nebo transformátorů.
